I mentioned in our recent Living Room post that I wanted to paint the front door.
Well, I did it!
Our front door was white, which was fine but kind of bland on a mostly cream house. On the inside, the cream color of the door clashed with the wall color, so we knew we were going to have to paint eventually (true for all the doors in the house). While I like the airy feel the white walls and drapes bring to the room, I was yearning for some color on that wall and the door seemed like a good place to add interest.
We ended up with two coats of exterior semi-gloss Behr Marquee in Green Balsam on the front door, inside and out. It brings a nice pop of bluey green color to an otherwise white corner. We’re both happy with it. Ready for lots of pictures of doors?
Here’s the entry way before and after painting:

You may have noticed that we also took the opportunity to update the door mat and hardware. We chose a Kwikset handleset since it allows you to rekey the lock yourself meaning we didn’t have to change out our existing keys. We want to change out the brass motion light to match the door hardware as well. We already updated the other outdoor fixtures to that oil rubbed bronze color a while back.
It’s amazing how a few simple changes can make a house feel more cheery and entering into it more enjoyable.
